BRASS (Beaches Residents Actively Supporting the Symphony)

BRASS Newsletter
BRASS brochure & membership form.

BRASS is a major fundraising and audience building support group for the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.

Founded in 1990 and open to all residents of the beaches area BRASS provides financial and subscription support to the orchestra, raises funds for new instruments and equipment, and brings concerts to the Beaches.  Additionally BRASS supports music programs in local schools through the innovative Instrument Zoo, which brings the entire family of musical instruments to fourth graders from Ponte Vedra to Mayport for hands-on experimentation.

Since its inception BRASS has contributed over $250,000 toward equipment and instruments to the JSO.  The beautiful Steinway concert grand piano is a gift from BRASS.

Each season, BRASS co-sponsors a free outdoor community concert on the grounds of the Tournament Players Club.  Other BRASS-organized events include the “BRASS Bonanza” fall membership-building social and the “Swing With the Symphony” golf tournament at TPC to benefit JSO Music Education Programs.  We bring small orchestral ensembles to the schools and bus over 1000 children into Jacoby Hall for the full orchestral experience.  In spring, we host the BRASS Ring vocal and instrumental competition, awarding $1,500 in music scholarships to talented young musicians in grades six through twelve.
We would love to have you join the fun!
